Cabo cancelled, so where shall 14 of us go for childless long wknd??

Seven couples from San Diego have reserved long wknd without kids for Cabo, but now must make other plans. Have done: Napa/Sonoma, Vegas, Palm Springs and most of CA extensively. Caribbean too far and would require possible changes thru Houston, etc., most have been to Costa Rica w/ kids. Suggestions? Can do 3-4 star, but not $500 nt. We are going mid-October. Help, Fodorite, pleases!!

Are you limited to the airline that you bought your Cabo tickets from?

How about a 3-4 day cruise out of LA on the Golden Princess? Cruising can be a lot of fun for groups. And while I have not been on the Golden Princess, I have cruised on other Princess ships and they are great!

Your tag says "United States". Are you asking about US destinations, or still Mexico?

Hawaii sound good to me, especially that time of year when weather could conceivably complicate your plans again.

Jackson Hole/Yellowstone? Spa, scenery, ATV's, hiking, horseback riding? Spring Creek Ranch is great and has rental homes right by the main lodge that might be able to accomodate your entire group or the Four Seasons at the mountain vilage.

No, not limited by airline -- been to Hawaii, not worth 3 nights and 5-6 hr flt from SD (but Alaskan Air $$ are great); been to Catalina & Lk Tahoe few times for tri-aths. Yes, thinking Jackson Hole a possibility. Thank you!!

You can also do a hot air balloon ride at Jackson which was wonderful - champagne at the landing spot!! I might have a trip report out on the board somewhere about our long weekend there.

Check out Sedona... Their casitas can sleep a bunch of people and can be divided for privacy...

I hit submit too early, the Casitas are at the Enchantment resort.

Baja and southern California (I think including Arizona) have been terribly hot and humid. This horrible weather will continue through October. I would recommend maybe the Pacific Northwest or Hawaii where the weather would be more agreeable this time of year.
