I will be visiting Cabella's large store and corporate headquarters in Sidney, Nebraska next month and need some suggestions on hotel accomodations and things to do in this area. Recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

You do realize where Sidney, NE is, right? (200 miles from Denver, 450 miles from Kansas City and out in the middle of the prairie).
The mantra of small town America applies...Super 8, Days Inn, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn...McDonald's, Subway, Dairy Queen....
Message: Hello from western Nebraska (80 miles from Sidney and also out in the middle of the prairie). Travleis is right in that your hotel choices in Sidney are strictly chains but you'll love Cabella's. My husband can't drive by Sidney without stopping in. Western Nebraska is gorgeous right now--the crippling drought has eased a little this year and we're at least green. Maybe it's a 'westerner thing' but I think the prairie is an amazingly beautiful sight, especially if you're used to hilly terrain. Where are you traveling from? As a born and bred westerner, I actually get claustrophobic in areas with dense numbers of trees! If you have extra time, take a side trip to Ash Hollow (on highway 26 between Lewellen and Ogallala). Lots of western history. An even better glimpse into pioneer history would be a side trip to my part of the world--Scottsbluff. On the way you could see Chimney Rock and the Oregon Trail (yes, you can still see the ruts made by the wagons). Western Nebraska is home to a large Hispanic population--Mi Ranchito in Sidney serves authentic Mexican food. The restaurant isn't fancy but the food is great. Sidney is small town USA--you won't find the Gap and Nordstrom--but you will find friendly people, great scenery and, of course, Cabellas!

Thanks Tess for your response regarding Sidney, Nebrasla. I will try some of the side trips that you suggested.
