CA, NV, AZ Roadtrip Planning

Hi,

We are visiting at the start of September from the UK and are now trying to plan the restaurants to visit and other little bits and bobs. We have all the hotels booked, and the "shell" is planned. Heres the itinerary...

2nd Sept - Arrive SFO. Staying at Sheratons Fishermans Wharf.

3rd Sept - Day in San Francisco. Alcatraz booked for mid afternoon.

4th Sept - Day in San Francisco

5th Sept - San Francisco to Yosemite. Staying at Yosemite View Lodge. Afternoon in Yosemite.

6th Sept - Morning in Yosemite and then drive to Mammoth. Staying at Mammoth Mountain Inn.

7th Sept - Long drive to Las Vegas through Death Valley. Staying at the Aladdin in Vegas.

8th Sept - Day in Vegas

9th Sept - Day in Vegas. Blue Man Group in the evening.

10th Sept - Day in Vegas

11th Sept - Las Vegas to Lake Havasu via Oatman. Staying at Nautical Inn.

12th Sept - Day on Lake Havasu with jet ski's and boat

13th Sept - Lake Havasu to LA. Staying at Sheraton Anaheim.

14th Sept - Day in LA

15th Sept - Day in LA

16th Sept - Day in LA. Flight back to the UK early evening.

So thats it. Quite a lot to pack in, but we did an even bigger roadtrip last year that took us to the Grand Canyon and Phoenix!

We need help with any tips, restaurants etc. There are four of us going (yound adults, mid twenties) and we like all kinds of food and entertainment.

Cheers (getting very excited),
Chris

3 1/2 days in Vegas? Now that's dedication! But then again, I'm a horrible gambler and never very good for more than a day or two there.
Check posts on lonely planet's thorn tree for better young/hip tips.
These 'fodorites' as they call themselves tend to be a more conservative, uptight group that would warn you from a spot in Vegas because of the smut flyers littered on the ground.

It's likely to be 110°+ F or hotter in Death Valley and only a few degrees cooler in Las Vegas or Lake Havasu. You might think about some alternative activities mid-day. In Vegas it's easy - just stay up all night and sleep all day. Tougher in other places.

Thanks for that, will check out the Lonley Planet forums.

3 1/2 days in Vegas because we loved it last year! We are not gamblers, but like to watch and wonder round.

We usually follow the Fodors guides for restaurants and places to visit and find them very good.

We went to the Italian restaurant in New York, New York last year (cant remember its name) and thought that was fantastic. This is the sort of level restaurant we need recommendations for at all of our stops.

Any more advice anyone? And hows the weather expected to be?

We dont mind the heat. Last year we were at Lake Havasu in a heat wave and I think it was something like 125+. Death Valley was pretty much the same.
