I'm arriving in Naperville, IL by Amtrak, picking up a rental car at about 2 p.m. and heading for Fort Wayne, IN.
Does anyone have a suggested route to bypass the worst of Chicago area traffic?
What about going south, say to Kankakee, before turning east into IN?
Or, is best to just bite the bullet and head for the IN Turnpike?
Tips/ideas appreciated.

Washington Street south-east to 75th St. 75th Street east to I655 to I-80. It should take about an hour to get into Indiana.
You should miss most of the heavy traffic if your train is on time.
Hope you enjoy your Amtrak trip.
