BWI to Gaylord National Harbor

Need suggestions on ground transportation from BWI to the Gaylord National Harbor. Don't really want to take a shared shuttle. What are the most economical options?

Absent a shuttle or taxi, you would need to take a train from BWI airport's rail station (you can catch a free shuttle from outside baggage claim) to DC's Union Station. From there you can hop on the Red Line on the Metro to Gallery Place - Chinatown, and switch to the Green Line to Southern Avenue. From there you can catch a bus to National Harbor. In all, depending on your time of day, this could take close to 3 hours and run up to $15 or so.

That's really an inconvenient location, I don't know why anyone would stay there unless they had some event or convention they had to go to. And maybe you do!

I don't know your antipathy to shared shuttles as taking public transportation will take a lot more time. It wouldn't be quite so bad by taxi if you were flying into DCA, not BWI. But a shuttle is more expensive than public transit, yes, so if you don't mind the time and trouble, you can do it yourself.

If I were going to do it by public transportation, I'd take the B30 airport bus from BWI to Greenbelt metro station, rather than a train to Union Station. http://www.bwiairport.com/en/travel/...on/trans/wmata

From there, you take the green metro line to Southern Ave etc as above. It just cuts off one transfer rather than going to Union Stn and I think the bus to Greenbelt takes only about half the time as the train to DC (20 min vs. about 40 min for the train) unless there is some unusual traffic. It is probably cheaper than Amtrak, but the fare for that airport bus is about the same as MARC rail fare, I think. The whole trip takes about 45 min from BWI to Greenbelt, then about 1:45 hrs for the metro plus bus (NH1) to National Harbor. I think the MARC train or airport but is $7, and then the rest will be about $5.

You're right about the B30, Christina. It would be useful to know when the OP is traveling, as there's discussion about discontinuing the service with the next round of budget cuts; it would not take effect until July 1.

The Gaylord has a lot of information about airport transfers on its web site, but the hotel has what it says are preferred rates on Execucar, a black-car service, from BWI.

But SuperShuttle is the economical option, and if you don't want that, you have to endure a very long trip or expense.

Looking for car service recommendations. Would like to stay under $100 for a one way trip for two. Execucar was pricey even with the Gaylord discount.
