Business in Philly

I am attending a seminar in Philadelphia September 21 and 22. I am tentively scheduled to stay at the Airport Tower Hotel, which is located not very far from the intersection of I-76 and Broad St (2015 Penrose Ave). Can some one give me insight as to the environment in that area, meaning, is it in a rough area, or relatively safe. Good restaurants? Etc.

Thanks for any help.

the area is a little rough. It is right next to a very old and dillapidated public housing project. If you don't want to stay in center city near the convention center or historic area, try the Holiday Inn at 10th and Packer, or stay around the airport. By the way I live only about amile from the hotel you mentioned, but my neighborhood is a world of difference away.

Thanks, Dominic, for the PDQ reply.

Let me cut to the chase...the seminar is being held at the Doubletree Hotel at Broad and Locust...is that the area you mention as the historic area. Can you give me names of hotels in that area that I don't have to mortgage my house to be able to afford to stay at?

Thanks

Just a cautious word that it might not be a good idea to list every detail about one's trip...trying to help here!

Keith,

Try the Latham hotel downtown. It's a few blocks from your seminar, but a nice walk & right in the best part of center city. I paid $90 w/AAA discount. They have valet parking @ $6 for 24 hrs which is a deal downtown. Good luck.
