And...I'm talking $50-70 - any thoughts?
I've seen Diamond Lake Resort and Prospect Hotel (the motel rooms, but a little $$$) online so far, but it's so hard to tell.
Thanks in advance!

well I love the Prospect - and I am pretty sure that includes a huge breakfast
Can't think of anywhere else that is cheap
If you want clean and all the facilities in a town that has all the basics the Prospect Hotel Motel is the way to go. $90 for Motel room with 1 queen size bed, Cable TV, Micro, refrigerator and Coffee, AC and working phones including cells and WiFi. B&B is more $. Several choices on where to eat, gas station, Store, BAR, 5 churches --Everything you could want!
Rough and RUSTIC Diamond Lake (fishing resort with ONE owner controlling the package) or Union Creek (More Rustic Dorm rooms w/2 double beds, communial bath (boys or girls) down the hall. Nothing for services (NO TV, phones, wifi or cell reception)$60.
Ya get what ya pay for. Cheap- go camp, $20 something for a camp spot. This whole area is just outside the National Park.
Pick your poison, We like the Prospect Hotel and the Dinner house is excellent!!! $25 to $35 for your WHOLE LARGE meal! And it tastes great!
On the NE side of Crater Lake at the intersection of Hwy 97 & Hwy 138 is a small, family run motel called Whispering Pines Motel that has clean rooms, a huge VHS collection free to guests, free coffee, and more. You'll be comfortable there and the rooms are $40 for a single queen-sized bed unit, $50 for 2 queen-sized bed unit and $60 for the huge room that has 3 queen sized beds!
There is a small market attached and tne new owners are very nice. They have received great reviews in the past few months since the new owners took over in May. Google "Whispering Pines Motel Oregon" or go to their website to check it out.
Also, across the street is a liquor store as well as the Diamond Lake Cafe with what are reported to be the best burgers in the state, huge pancakes, and real ice cream milkshakes.
Hope this helps!
Husband and I just stayed a night at the Whispering Pines Motel in mid-September and highly recommend it. It was clean and comfortable with a microwave, small refrigerator, and fan, and still felt spacious. Thick wooden (pine?) walls kept this $40 room quieter than most modern-built $80-$100 hotel rooms we stayed in larger towns. Hope this helps.
