Budget Accommodation in Boston
Hi, I am travelling to Boston in Octbober on a very limited budget. I will have approx. $50 to spend on a room per night, could somebody recommend a reasonable hotel/B&B? I am looking for something clean and in a good location. Thanks in advance.

My advice is to go on Priceline and see what you can get. It will be very difficult to find something clean+good location+only $50.
Boston is not as expensive as New York, but it isn't cheap either.
Another option would be stay outside of the downtown area, like Quincy or Braintree, and take the "T" in. Again though, it will be difficult to find something for that rate.

If there is any chance you will be driving, think again about that spect of your trip. Parking is expensive and cheaper alternatives even harder to find. Other than Priceline, I doubt you could find anything for that rate anywhere near Boston.

This is a YMCA in the Charlestown Navy Yard.. the rates from this link are $59-99/ night. Check with them directly too. I think this is better than staying at a motel outside of the city. I would compare this to a Best Western maybe?? I would definitely check Priceline too. Make sure to first check that site out which shows you which hotels in area/stars people have won.
Also, the cheapest way to travel to Boston from New York these days are those bus lines from Chinatown, NY to Chinatown Boston. Perhaps some NYers who are familiar with this - where to go to catch the bus, price, etc. - would have some answers. I believe this is around $30 roundtrip.
Greyhound, Peter Pan frequently have buses btw these 2 cities. They may have specials, check it out.

If you're willing to stay in Braintree and use the red line to get into Boston, you can frequently get the Sheraton Tara in Braintree for a $40-$60 bid through Priceline. It's the only 3 star hotel in Braintree in Priceline's inventory.

There's another possibility if you want to use Priceline and don't mind staying at the airport. Frequently you can get the Hyatt at the Airport for a bid of $37 through Priceline. There's a shuttle that will pick you up at the Airport T station (blue line) which will bring you directly to the hotel. A $37 bid is usually successful for the nights Friday through Monday.
The 3 star hotels in the Boston Airport/Revere zone are the Hyatt and the Hilton. If your bid is declined at $37, then add the Seaport zone (there aren't any 3 star hotels in that zone) at the same level and raise your bid to $50, you'll either get the Hilton or the Hyatt.
