Broadway show suggestions April 22 or 23
Hi. I am going to NYC in April with my 17 year old son to look at colleges. I am looking for suggestions -- if we go to one Broadway show this year, what should it be? We love musicals. We saw In The Heights a few years ago and LOVED it. Also loved Wicked, Alladin. Suggestions? Thank you!

Have your son read the synopses of Broadway shows. I doubt if a 17 year old male will like Wicked and if he doesn't like Carole King, Beautiful will be a waste of money.

This is really sounding good to know that you are going with your 17 year old son. I know you will definitely enjoy there. In my opinion you should follow "Gentleman's Guide". Is it interesting on the way?

Hamilton would be great -- but the hottest ticket in town. You can possibly get scalped tickets at $500 or more each? On one blog, I saw where a guy just sold his tickets for over $1000 each!
I'm not so sure most 17 year old boys would like Gentleman's Guide -- but you might know him better.
Not a musical, but one of the most exciting plays on Broadway right now is The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. It's filled with special effects and is a powerful and amazing story about an autistic teen boy.
But Hedwig might be a great choice. Are you comfortable sharing the "very adult" show with him? I would have died being there with my parents at that age!

Hamilton is now fully sold out, though I know you'd love it. To be honest, I'd recommend The King and I for April. They are offering some small discounts for April if you book tickets now. I'm pretty sure it's going to be wonderful. It doesn't really matter where you sit because every seat in that theater is good, even the back row. So go for the best cheap tickets you can find.

Great ideas. I didn't realize the King and I was coming in April. I will check that out. Also may have to go to more than one: the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night also sounds great.
Thanks again
