My mom (62 yrs), sis and I are headed to Boston/Cape Cod area for 3 full days June 11 – 13th. This is our first trip (we’re from Ottawa, Canada). I’m feeling that we should focus our trip on Cape Cod instead of Boston, ‘cause I think we would need more than 1 day to really see Boston.
Our goals are:
Beaching (not so much lounging as the water is too cold, so more walking, scenery and discovery)
Beautiful Sunsets
Quaint villages & one of a kind shopping
Arts/Crafts
Biking Trails / Bike Rentals
Mini-Golf & Ice Cream and perhaps that Drive In Theater in Wellfeet
We prefer to see lots and have a busy schedule vs laying on a beach all day
Mom would LOVE to see Martha’s Vineyard. Is this a place we can do without a car, and is it worth a trip? How long would we spend there? Is there a best day to go there between Fri to Sun?
We’ve already done whale watching in Maine, so I’ll think we will pass on that this time with our limited amount of time.
I’m getting the feeling from reading the other posts that Eastham might be a great place to stay since we wouldn’t have far to go to see other places.
But I wonder if it would make any sense to stay in three locations – Falmouth, Eastham, and Provincetown? Would driving times be an issue at this time of year (June 11 - 13 weekend)? If not, then it probably makes sense to stay in one spot and drive to the other locations.
The restaurants so far on the list are:
P+B Boulangerie in Wellfleet
Lobster Pot in Ptown
Moby Dick Wellfleet
I welcome any other suggestions! I want to make sure we hit the highlights and in future years we can come back to our favourite location.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Driving on any summer weekend on the Cape can be slow - but I don;t think it makes sense to stay in 3 places in 3 nights. You say arriving 3 days - Fri to Sun - so I am assuming you arrive on Thurs - which would be OK. If you plan on arriving on Fri you should arrive as early in the day as possible (definitely before noon) to avoid awful traffic later in the day.
Agree that you can;t even begin to see Boston in a day - IMH it takes at least 3 days to scrtch the surface of the city and immediate suroundings (Lexington/Concord).

I will be setting up my daughter in Boston and want to see the east coast, have 9/4-12ish maybe more time if needed. Thinking of driving to cape cod, nantucket, martha's vineyard, plus other possible stops on way, then want to head to NY to see other daughter going back to school, so thought we would drive through Hampton's maybe spend night, then head to NY, want to rent car in Boston and drop off in NY, is this feasible, possible or even a good idea??
michaelnovi: As I posted on the other thread, you should probably start a new thread of your own instead of tacking on to this older one. You have different questions than catmaydec and your post may get lost in the shuffle.
