Hi y'all (!)

I am travelling for the first time to Eastern USA this summer and a friend has mentioned the Boston Tea Party. Can anyone tell me where I would get tickets? Can I buy them online? How much for two adults and two kids age 10 & 8??

There are lot more interesting things to see and do in Boston! If you want to go there, wait until you're in Boston and then decide.

Seriously: citysearch.com/boston (I find citysearch a GREAT resource for all cities, btw) says it's pretty much for the "milk and cookies set" and more touristy than historically correct. There are much better things to do, but if you're determined, see the citysearch website for details re:tickets (search on "tea party").

Myself I'd go to the Children's Museum, the Museum of Science, and the Computer Museum long before I'd go near that place. Much better day: take a cruise of the harbor and visit the little islands.

How could I forget the Duck Tours! They're overpriced but really wonderful for everyone, and nice on a summer day. Get tickets, etc. in the Prudential Center. Don't sit in the very last row unless you want to get wet.

If you're interested in ships and history, visit the U.S.S. Constitution at the Charlestown Navy Yard. It's the nation'soldest commisioned warship, and it's fascinating (free, too). There's also a great museum next to it. If it's history you want, this is the genuine article, not a touristy re-creation.

I fully agree with the Bostonians who say that there are many more historic and accurate things to visit, but let me add - my kids loved this attraction! They were just about the ages of yours at the time of our visit. It is close to the children's museum, so you can kill two birds with one stone. An hour is more than enough for the Tea Party ship.

I have to second patg above. My 11 year old daughter loved the "tea Party." In fact it helped her visualize the whole story so much she wanted to research it some more. During 6th grade she had to write a 10 Page research paper and she chose "the Boston Tea Party" and did a really fine job. I would recommend this site to anyone traveling with young kids who will soon (or are) studying the revolutionary war. You can easily buy tickets at the boat.
