Boston Santa Speedo Run?

I was thinking of taking my mom and aunt (both 70 years old) to Boston the first weekend of December to see holiday lights, shop, etc. I was looking at the calendar of events and the speedo run is scheduled for that Saturday. How crazy is the day and weekend with this event going on? Will the event make Boston a rowdy/raunchy place for the weekend? Or hard to get around because of crowds?

I know this is a goofy question, but I want my mom and aunt to have a pleasant, relaxed weekend. The last time we went to Boston together, the Bruins had just won a championship and we arrived to crazy parade crowds that marred finding restaurants that didn't have long waits, troubles with taxis being able to drop off, etc.

The Santa Speedo Run is a rather small event with under 1000 participants running 6 blocks down Newbury street and 6 blocks up Boylston - all of a half hour and then the participants join up back at Lir on the corner of Gloucester St. It's really fun to witness while Christmas shopping and has very little impact on the city as a whole from my experience.

Also the ladies might enjoy The Holiday Pops at Symphony Hall. Really charges up the Holiday cheer.

Oh and unless the ladies are extremely conservative, prim I've never witnessed anything raunchy in a bunch of revelers running down the winter cold street scantilly clad. No thongs allowed. It's disappointing when it lands on an unseasonably warm day.

Most of us who live here never even hear or see anything to do with this as we go about our daily lives--maybe a 10 second spot on the evening news.
