Boston in June for 4 nights
My husband and I will be in Boston in June. Since we're only there for a few nights, we don't mind splurging. Need suggestions for hotels in good location to see sights. Also, "must see" suggestions. Thanks!

What are you already planning to do? You already must have some "must sees" or you wouldn't be going.
Obviously, the Freedom Trail is very popular. The graveyards on the trail are great. The Isabella Stewart Gardner museum is popular. The arts and architecture tour of the Boston Public Library was interesting. The Museum of Fine Arts also looks nice but I haven't been yet.
How much per night do you consider a splurge?

this question is just too vague to answer. You can get a nice list of "must sees" from the Fodor's destination guide. In order for us to add any value you need to tell us what you are interested in, maybe why you picked Boston.
Also, no idea what a "splurge" means. A budget, and some idea of what might make you happy.... a view? a place known for great service? a charming historic hotel? then we can make useful suggestions.

Parker House is an older but I don't know if it's still a goodie! Parker House rolls....
Area around Back Bay has hotels.

How much are you willing to spend on a "splurge"? And any particular interests?
Personally, I think the Taj (#1) and Four Seasons (#1A) have the "best" locations in that they are most central and right on the Public Garden. The Revere and Park Plaza are only marginally worse locations than the Four Seasons (within a couple minutes walk, no Garden frontage).
That being said, most of the big hotels in the city are in decent locations. The Back Bay hotels, particularly the Westin and Fairmont, are in good locations too. Myself, I would prefer to not be in one of the Financial District hotels on the weekend - the area can get very quiet, but it isn't like you are terribly far from the action and they are close to the Freedom Trail, waterfront, and Quincy Market.
There are some hotels in the South Boston waterfront, but I'd personally avoid them as the area can still be a bit dead.

There are also a few hotels on the waterfront (not the South Boston Seaport area, which is a bit removed as travelgourmet mentions). Look at the Marriott Long Wharf, Fairmont Battery Wharf, Boston Harbor Hotel, and the Intercontinental.
Since you're coming in June, the waterfront area would be fun, especially if you are interested in taking a harbor cruise or a whale watch.

By splurge, I mean $500-600 a night.
Then I'd say go with either the Four Seasons or Taj for the absolute best location and a nice luxury experience. Or book the Mandarin Oriental for what is probably the best hotel (with a very good location, though slightly below the Taj and 4S).
A dark horse would be the Eliot, which is a very good small hotel. The location is a step down from the ones above (but still pleasant and easy to get around by taxi or T), but you get a more boutique experience. And the restaurant, Clio is (IMO) the best in the city. The bar at Clio also has fantastic cocktails and great bartenders, again (IMO) among the best in the city. There is also a sushi bar - Uni - that, again (IMO) is neck and neck with O Ya as the best in the city.
If you wanted to save a little bit of money and got a deal, I think the Westin or the Fairmont Copley Plaza would also be good choices. I've stayed at both and they are both solid 4-star hotels. The Fairmont has a more grand dame feel, but the Westin is solid in the Westin way.
