8 of us are heading to Boston in April. Been there a couple times myself, but always stayed at Boston Harbour for work. Any recommendations for hotels where we can walk to good, casual restaurants? Last time I was there, we ate at the Butcher Shop and Toro.
Thanks.

Trip Ideas
Boston is a fairly compact city and easily walkable, so any hotel, if not in the midst of great restaurant and pubs is an easy walk or cab ride away.
If your visit coincides with the Boston Marathon, expect very high rates.
Otherwise, there are often terrific bargains with Priceline, Hotwire, TravelZoo, Quikbook, etc.
The Back Bay area might be a good base. Lots of good, casual restaurants on Newbury and Boylston and a little more of a walk to the South End but doable. I don't know your budget so it's hard to make a recommendation but the Copley Marriott, Westin and Sheraton are all in good locations.
That's a good heads-up from djkbooks about the Marathon. It's the third Monday in April and if you are planning to come at that time you should be looking for hotels now.
You might try the Harbourside Inn, which is right across the street from Quincy Market and close to everything. I stayed there a few months ago and loved it. The room was large and a very comfortable bed. I got it on Priceline, but call you can probably get a good rate.
