Boston - Fenway Park Hotel
My husband, son & I are planning on attending the Red Sox game on June 23. I've reserved the Residence Inn Fenway and the location looks great but I'm wondering if there might be a better option? I've looked at several hotels and so far I can't find anything under $400 that is convenient for walking or public transportation. Thanks for any suggestions.

well, Boston hotels are always expensive. The Residence inn is quite new, and in a good location for Fenway. You could try the Verve, which is nearby and has gotten good reviews. I imagine the Hotel Commonwealth is more expensive than the Residence, but its an awfully nice hotel.
I've heard....though I don't have personal experience, that the Hotel Buckminster has been improved. It used to be a real dump. You might investigate trip advisor and see if that is any better.
There is the Holiday Inn on Beacon st in Brookline. its a longer walk, but still walkable, and also on the Green line so you could ride that a couple stops. Not sure if the price is any better you could check. Also the hotels around the Longwood Medical area are a long walk, but on the Green line as well and sometimes there are good prices out there. Can't remember the names, but maybe someone here can recommend.
Finally, the Copley area/Back Bay hotels are all reasonably walkable and maybe you can find a bargain or do priceline in that neighborhood.

sorry, it's the Verb, not the Verve.
I did a quick look at booking.com and was kind of appalled at the prices for your date. There really isn't much at all under $400.
One thing the might work is the Midtown. Its close to the Symphony stop on the Green line, so not bad to get to the park, and seems like it has rooms for $279. Its a little bit of a dumpy old motel, but I think it might be decent enough and a good price. I say that only ever having been around the outside, and used their parking lot, so you'll definitely want to take a look at reviews to see if it will suit.

As China cat says, the hotels in the Prudential/Copley area of Back Bay are all convenient to Fenway. It's an easy, safe 20 minute walk or you can take the subway one or two stops.
But really, anywhere near a T stop is okay to go to Fenway. You just might have to change from one line to the Green Line B, C, or D trains that go to Kenmore Square (for Fenway).
There is also a Courtyard Marriott in Brookline, but the rates there are not usually much lower than in Boston.
The Residence Inn Fenway couldn't be more convenient to the park.

Thanks for the advice! Several of the suggestions are sold out, but good to know about for a future trip. I might be able to use points in the Copley area, so I'm glad it is an easy walk.
