Boston Bound

My wife wants to go to Washington DC, my son wants to go to Chicago and I want to go to Boston. We wish to stay at any of the detinations from April 12-16 and have a contest between us for the best info. I need the best info regarding flights, hotels, safest places to play, stay and eat in Boston. I don't want to break the bank trying to have a good getaway but I can't afford 5 star everything. I would welcome any and all information you could provide.
Thanks!!!!!!!!

Well, haven't stayed in too many of the hotels, since I live here. But anything in Back Bay will give you plenty to do and see in walking distance. Boston is of course, a great walking city.

Weather is a crapshoot - you could get some lovely days in the 60s (and maybe warmer), but it can be cool and very windy here. Don't come expecting springtime and shortsleeves.

For Boston info you might want to check out http://ae.boston.com/ and for restaurant info, you can't beat Zagats.com, but they're no longer free.

Have you considered searching for the other Boston/Massachusetts posts on this Fodors board, rather than expecting everyone to give detailed answers to your very vague question?

For a good value, consider staying in Cambridge at http://www.hotelatmit.com/home/home.html

It's located in Central Square, a few blocks from the subway station on the red line. Hop on the 'T' and it's 10 minutes to downtown Boston. Or the other direction, it's 1 stop to Harvard Sq.
