We plan to celebrate our 20th anniversary during a trip to Boston at the end of December. We would like a recommendation for a nice restaurant where we can celebrate with our two teen daughters (who have sophisticated palates). How is Tremont 647?
Boston-best place for a 20th anniversary dinner with teen girls?

Hmmm, I don't think Tremont 647 gets great reviews.
What's your budget? What type of cuisine? Are you looking for a quiet, romantic place? Or fun, hip, and potentially loud?
And, which part of town will you be staying?
We are planning to stay at Boston Harbor. We could go either fun and hip or quiet and romantic, depending on the quality of the food. I think our budget would be around $120 for the four of us. Thanks!
I just realized you posted another thread a few days ago:
http://www.fodors.com/community/united-states/boston-for-3-nights-in-dec-suggestions-for-where-to-stay-and-dine.cfm
Do you mean Boston Harbor Hotel, or a hotel *near* Boston Harbor? Please be more specific, esp when a hotel that advertises itself as *near* Boston Harbor may not necessarily be at a good location.
$120 for 4 - assuming that includes wine, tax & tips? I'm afraid that will limit your choices... Let me think about it and hopefully come back with some options.
I really hope your $120 budget isn't supposed to include everything? because $20 entree's are pretty normal around here (that's about what you'll spend at Tremont 647). That's $80, plus tip and tax puts you at $100 without anything to drink, or any dessert.
I happen to like Tremont 647, though, I think the food is good, and it has a playful vibe that your daughters might like.
Other thoughts in the same price range... Maybe Sel de La Terre (which is on the waterfront, so potentially close to where you are staying), or Petit Robert Bistro.
I also think you can dine in that price range in the North End, but I'm not an expert on the restaurants in that area. There have been a number of threads on it though, if you search, I'm sure you can find some good recommendations for Italian.
In the South End, not too far from Tremont 647, is Toro. It serves Spanish tapas cuisine and is very good - better than Tremont 674 I think. You should be able to keep to your budget there. Average plate is about $8-10, so you can order about 10 plates to share plus 2 glasses of wine. However, it doesn't take reservations, so either go super-early on weekends, or go early on a weekday to avoid waiting forever. Another downside is that South End is not the most convenient area to get to by public transport.

One more place in South End that I like is Orinoco. http://orinocokitchen.com/dinner.html
Like Toro, Orinoco doesn't take reservations, so go early (preferably at opening time for dinner).
BTW, while both places serve good food (will please your teenage daughters with sophisticated palates) and should fit your budget, I won't consider either place to be a *special* spot for 20th anniversary...
$120 for 4 is going to be really tough. A couple of places that come to mind are Silvertone near Downtown Crossing and the Franklin Cafe in either the South End or South Boston.
You might also check out Tapeo on Newbury St. It's a lively Spanish tapas place.
Have never been to Boston, yet. But wondering why teens would be involved in your 20th anniversary dinner?
My husband and I chose to include our teenage daughters on our 20th anniversary weekend in Boston, so I don't see anything unusual about it. After all we are a family, we got married to start a family (amoung other reasons) so it felt weird not to include them - we have plenty of alone time too.
Anyway - my recommendations would include Limoncello in the North End, though there a number of restaurants in the North End that would be great. The budget part makes it a bit tough.
I don't see anything weird about it either -- "It's our anniversary, let's go out to celebrate" -- it could be your kids, your friends, other family members, whatever. I don't see why it has to be just the two of you. If that were the "rule", you'd have to your birthday by yourself
A couple of places come to mind but your $120 budget might be stretched a little, although it is doable.
Stellas in the South End is a bit hip and a bit loud and they have very good food. It's Italian with lots of food choices.
Bouchee on Newbury Street is a favorite of mine. French. It's a roomier location than Stellas with tables not spaced so close together so it's a bit quieter.
You can find both restaurants, plus make reservations, on www.opentable.com.
I can't think of any quiet and romantic spots that fit your budget. If I come up with any I'll post again.
My fave restaurant in Boston is Rabia on Salem St. in the North End. Charming decor and excellent food and service.
I think it is a wonderful idea that you are including your daughters in your anniversary celebration!
Hi Polas. I had dinner this weekend at a newish Boston restaurant (just opened in May) and I remembered your thread so I thought I'd post again. There were 5 of us and we all enjoyed our dinners quite a bit. Entrees are all right at $20 and the food was very good. The chef is a CIA graduate and the menu is creative without being way out. I had marsala glazed duck which was excellent. Take a look at the web site:
http://www.pazzoboston.com
We were there on a Saturday night and it was busy and a bit boisterous. The restaurant is on 2 levels and we were on the lower level, which was definitely quieter than the upper level. It's right on Newbury Street.
I still can't come up with a quiet and romantic restaurant with good food that meets your budget.
