Boston--Another Art Mission

From 19th to 24th of May, I plan to be in Boston on a long-planned John Singer Sargent quest. Below is my schedule and if you are free when I'm not on my mission (or want to join me), I'd love to meet up for a meal or a drink. I'll be at the Copley Westin so hope the meeting places would be convenient to that location as Boston is new to me and stairs can be problems.

Tues: Arrive in the afternoon. Back Bay Logan Express ($5) to hotel and settle in. Take Boston Public Library tour from 6-7. <blue>GTG for Drinks/dinner after BPL tour?</blue>

Wed: Boston Public Gardens; Lunch plans; Museum of Fine Arts; MFA Sketching from 6-9. <blue>GTG for early dinner at MFA before sketching? </blue>

Thursday: Isabelle Gardner Museum (tour at 2--Third Thursday talk 5:30). <blue>GTG for late breakfast or early dinner at IGM before talk, or Drinks after? </blue>

Friday: Explore Back Bay?; Return to Boston Public Library?; Harvard Art Museum or Gibson House tour (1, 2, or 3). <blue>GTG lunch, drinks or dinner? </blue>

Saturday: Harvard Art Museum or Gibson House tour. <blue>GTG drinks or dinner? </blue>

Sunday: Leave

Because of time and money constraints, I had to choose between Boston and the WFD GTG—a difficult thing because the GTG was sooo much fun. Anyhow, I put some possible times in blue. FYI, if you want to go to the Third Thursday at Gardner, you need a ticket and reservation. It acts as a general admission also.

I can do either an early dinner on Wednesday or an late breakfast on Thursday. My office is a block or two from the Westin so maybe the breakfast will work better. I think you have my email address.

Not available for GTG, but wanted to say enjoy your Singer Sargent quest. I am huge Sargent fan and will happily visit any museum that has a Sargent. I particularly like his watercolors and trekked to Seattle a number of years ago to see an exhibit.

Tdude. I hate to be too negative, but if you have problems with stairs, you may have some difficulties. I took the BPL tour in early March, it's great but the tour does go up 3 flights of stairs. The Sargent murals are on the top floor. Don't know about an elevator, you might want to call and ask.

The Gardner Museum also required going up several flights of stairs. Another phone call you may want to make to see about elevator access as I didn't see any.

The Harvard Art Museum did have an elevator.

Both those buildings have elevators to all floors but I don't know how the tours interface with them.

Great, AGM! Thursday late breakfast sounds good. I'll email you and we can sort out time/place.

SAB, Sargent's work is amazing. I too have trekked to see his works.

Thanks, Liz and jubi for the stair warnings/info.

If you are available, AGM has suggested Thornton's

http://www.thorntonsboston.com/map.html

It is near my hotel and we will meet at 9:30 AM on Thursday May 21st. If you think you might come, please let me know here so we'll know what size table we want. Right now the count is 3!

Yippee, Mimi! I'll get your info from Abby. Please let me know which day is better for you. Are you interested in the MFA sketching session?

Thanks, gruezi!

Friday! I just sent you an email (hadn't read above). I could make Harvard my Friday morning activity and meet you for lunch in that area OR dinner/drinks later. Now it's your turn to choose. And either way, let me know your preferred where and time.

Hmm. Do you have a spam section? Since my email would be new, perhaps it wasn't recognized?

I'm going to copy and send you another from doncobydesign at yahoo.

I just looked back and saw your 11:29 post. I could go to Harvard in the afternoon and meet you at 6 or 7.

I've asked AGM for your telephone number so we can figure out logistics. In the meantime, I'll google Central Square subway.

Did any of my emails come through? I'm going out to pick up a pizza but will be back after 6.
