Booking Lodging at the Grand Canyon
Hello,
How many months is Grand Canyon South Rim booking for reservations? In 2015, we're heading to Yellowstone - and that booked out 13 months ahead.
I've heard the Grand Canyon is booking 18 months ahead. Looking for June 2016. Does anyone know?
Thanks!

We stayed at El Tovar. Its the most expensive but very lovely to stay. They have a good restaurant there and if you want dinner you must make a reservation 3 months in advance( check if it has changed). If you didn't have a reservation there were simply no spare tables and they were turning away people. Breakfast requires no booking. Just turn up. Lovely after getting up early to watch the sun come up over the canyon.
If you cant get a booking in the park some have suggested booking just outside the park but keep trying in the lodges in case there has been a cancellation. It is worth it to stay in the park on the rim where a little walk takes you to this magnificent view rather than driving into the park to see it.

We booked the Yavapai Lodge 2 months ahead for August 31st and September 1st. I've read that if you don't find what you want, keep checking because often there are cancellations. Good luck!
We loved staying in the park! I recommend it!

And when you check, don't just rely on the website. Get on your phone and CALL Xanterra! Reservation cancellations aren't rare, but rooms in the national parks are in such demand that often they're rebooked before the vacancy can be posted on the website. Call daily and be willing to be flexible in your lodging options, and there's a decent chance you'll get a room for the dates you want.
