Bolt Bus philly to New York City
I am taking the Bolt bus from Philly to New York in late January. The bus drops us off on W. 33rd Ave between 11th and 12th Avenues. I will be staying at The Time Hotel, 224 W. 49th St., near Times Square.
What is the best way to get to my hotel on the subway? (I have never taken the subway in NY). Thank you for any advice you can give me.

You could walk over to 8th Ave and catch the uptown E train to 50th Street, but it will be equally as easy to walk it if you don't have much luggage. (20 N/S blocks = ~1 mile). Have a great stay in the City!

The bus will drop you at W. 33rd STREET between 11th and 12th Avenues. (There is no 33rd Ave in Manhattan.)
For your hotel location from this far west bus stop, I would be inclined to take a taxi.
Otherwise, by public transportation, take the M34 crosstown bus east to 8th Avenue. (MetroCard or coins only, $2.50; if you use coins, ask for a transfer)
At 8th Avenue, switch to the C or E subway train uptown to 50th Street (2 stops). OR at 8th Avenue you could switch to the M20 bus uptown.

Agree that taxi is the way to go - esp if the weather is cold.
It's a long hike to the subway at 8th ave (n/s blocks are very short while east/west blocks between the aves are very long) and the wait for a bus might also be 15 minutes or so. I would spring for a few $ to get to the hotel faster and dump your bags rather than wait in the cold.

According to HopStop.com, a taxi will cost about $8.70 on a weekday at 10:00 a.m. A 15% tip comes to an even $10.00. Tip more if you have luggage, or wish to tip higher. The trip should take 10-15 minutes barring extraordinary traffic.
