My husband and I have been researching Boise, Idaho as a possible place to retire. There are a couple of things I have been wondering about. Is smoking allowed in public businesses/buildings and do most restaurants seperate smoking and non-smoking? Also I'm wondering how often forest fires occur and if the smoke from them flows towards the city. Any help on these issues is greatly appreciated.

lived in the area for 8 years in my youth. don't remember ever smelling smoke from a forest fire.
and, though i haven't been there recently to know for sure, boise is close enough to utah that i'd be surprised if smoking weren't banned in public access buildings, with appropriate accommodation in restaurants.
p.s. i think the area would be a great place to retire: four distinct seasons, none too severe, relatively low cost of living, incredibly natural beauty within a short drive.......
