I'd like recommendations on a hip and fun restaurant in the Boise, ID area. I want to give a gift certificate to a friend who is new to the area.

Thanks! That was exactly what I was looking for!
You are quite welcome. Go visit your friend, Idaho is fabulous.
OR if you dont mind me suggesting The Milky Way or Estrella's. Fun places, fun atmosphere, great food.
Driving cross country we found cottonwood grille during our one night stop in Boise. What a delight. Good food, good wine, excellent fried Idaho potatoes.
Cottonwood is great. Really nice atmosphere. I would second the Milky Way suggestion too. It is definitely hip and has great food! It's a little more funky and the Cottonwood is more traditional.
