boat from Ft. Myers to Key West

Key West Express seems to be the biggest operation that does this--but are there others? And are they all that expensive? We're trying to decide whether the $145 per person is worth it for a short trip (we'd stay one night in the middle of a week-long stay in Ft. Myers in January). Are there other companies anyone can recommend that aren't quite as pricey?

We think we'd like wandering around Key West for a day to experience the "other" stuff that Ft. Myers doesn't have. Also, would any decent hotels in Key West be under $120 or so in mid-January? Thanks for any suggestions you have!
