I'm considering this affordable B&B for a December Key West visit. I'm a female solo traveler, (late 40s), who looks to be within a few blocks' walk of restaurants, shops and attractions. I like a quaint, quiet, clean, safe place with a comfortable bed. This place appears to be well-located and is definitely affordable. If you've stayed there in the past year or two and have any impressions you could share, I'd greatly appreciate it.
BTW, this is my first Key West visit and I plan to visit the Truman house, Audubon House, Hemingway House, Mallory Square and Southernmost Point.

Big Island HAWAII: My 1st Swim with honu; Mauna Kea: Panic at 13,000 ft

I've never stayed at the Blue Parrot Inn but the website looks very nice. When my husband and I started going to Key West in the early 90s, "the" location was on the gulf/bay side of the island.
In very recent years, with the new Southernmost on the Beach, La Mer and Dewey House, and renovated Casa Marina and Reach, the Atlantic side of the island has been rejuvenated.
Of the things you mention you'd like to do, the Truman Little White house, Audubon House, Hemingway House and Mallory Square are all on the bay side of the island. Southernmost Point is on the Atlantic.
I suppose whether you want that location will depend on how much you like to walk. It's certainly within walking distance of everything in Old Town (which is exactly where you'll be), but probably a 20 or 30 minute walk from the Blue Parrot Inn. There are lots of people who prefer "the quieter side of the island," which that's considered to be, so it's really a toss-up. Regardless where you stay I know you'll have a great time. Key West is a wonderful place for solo travelers!

To stay close to the action (but not in the action) I usually stay in one of the places on Simonton. Just a block to Duval, closer to most everything & near Fausto's (the grocery).
You will be at 916 Elizabeth St (Lizzie Str). Just a few blocks away is Blue Heaven, one of the more popular places to have B, L, or dinner...

You can eat in their garden amongst the chickens and cats.
Over on Duval is the Banana Cafe for B or Lunch...crepes filled with meat, seafood or veggies.

And since you've discovered all of the usual touristy places, you might also like Nancy's Secret Garden, the entrance to which is very close to you but poeple tend to walk by it...

And the Key West Garden Club at the West Martello Tower...

Maybe a 15 minute walk out to Higgs Beach which is worth it to see the tower and to walk out onto the White Street Pier.
