BLOOMINGTON, IN

Does anyone have any comments about this area? I'm considering moving there for a job.

Bloomington is a typical university town, with a lot of activity. The area is very pretty for the Midwest, and Lake Monroe is 15 minutes away.

Bloomington is very big on music. I think they have a big festival every year. Housing is reasonable. It's a pretty town from what I could tell after one visit.

Bloomington is a College Town. No if's or but's. But it's very pretty and quiet. The good thing is if you're in the mood for big city life, Indianpolis is only 20-30 minutes away. If you are in the mood for a real big city life, then Chicago is only 4 hours away. Great place to move if you have a family, and the living expenses are very low. You can actually save money....

Bloomington is a great town. Yes, its a rather typical college town but because of its well respected business school and music school there are lots of big city activities. Broadway theatre comes to B'ton as does opera and rock acts. A wide variety of activity. And, of course, IU sports. All at a lot less than the big city. As others have said, its also only 4 hours from Chicago, 1 hour from Indianapolis, and 2 hours from Cincinnati. Really a pretty city. I love Bloomington and can't imagine anyone not liking it. Good luck.

Bloomington, IN is a college town - the main campus of Indiana University is located here.

We live in Indianapolis and moved from Chicago two years ago - if you are coming from a big city - Indianapolis will seem small with little to do and Bloomington is more than just 20-30 minutes away - try 45 to an hour from Indianapolis.

Bloomington is a small town if that is what you are looking for and full of IU fans.

We moved to Bloomington ten years ago from Santa Monica, California. It is a great place to raise a family--Indiana University's School of Music is the best in the country (tied with Juilliard) and it has great opera for only $20 or so; ballet and theatre are also good. There are often 3 or 4 musical events going on each day--it's hard to be bored. Oh, yes, there is basketball, too (yes, even post-Bobby Knight!)--and the football team has one of the best quarterbacks to come along recently in Antwaan Randel-El.

We don't miss California much at all--in fact we hardly recognized our sleepy little beach town last time we visited--got caught in traffic jams one time too many!
