Block Island Suggestions
I'm planning a trip with my wife to Block Island at the end of August. We'll probably be there for 3 or 4 nights after spending a day or so in Newport. I'm looking for recommendations on Block Island B&B's (and why you like it), restaurants, and the best places to watch the sunset. Also, is there any reason to bring a car onto the island?
While we've been to Newport before and have enjoyed the mansions, cliff walk, tennis hall of fame, etc. -- I'm wondering if there are there any other hidden gems we shouldn't miss as we pass through on the way to Block Island?

I've been to the Web sites (including blockisland.com and I've called for and received the visitor's guide to the island. I've also looked up B&B's on various B&B/Inn Web site. So I'm not asking for a list of B&B's, etc. -- I'm looking for recommendations (based on personal experience) from other travelers like myself. I've found that personal recommendations from people who have traveled to an area are going to give me a much different opinion than what is provided by the chamber of commerce. And rather than narrowig my list on my own and then asking if people recommend a particular place, I prefer to use the recommendations to help narrow my list.
If you don't have a recommendation, don't post. I think responses like the one's I've received so far show why it seems some people are getting more and more frustrated with this forum.
I look forward to receiving recommendations from other posters.

Hi Lew,
I haven't been to Block Island in a few years but have been there a couple of times. Can't recommend a B&B as I stayed with a friend of a friend and also have gone over for a couple of day trips. It's a pretty small island and if you stay close to the Old Harbor you don't need a car. The cabs used to be $5.00 per trip - anywhere on the island. We always brought our bicycles and they were a great way to get around. I'm not really sure if there's enough to do for 4 nights - It's a pretty laid back place - nice beaches, good scenery so if you're looking to relax it's a great place.
We always had lunch at Smugglers Cove - over near New Harbor - they usually had entertainment out on the deck and it was a fun place to relax and enjoy and drink or two.
