Blind-Pass Condos on Sanibel
I am planning a trip to Sanibel in April and am looking at Blind-Pass Condos. Has anyone stayed there and are they nice? How far is it to the beach? Also I have never been to Sanibel before and any suggestions would be appreciated.

Pat-
I go to Captiva once a year and stay at South Seas Plantation. I know where Blind Pass is and it is on the beach, but I am not sure about the condos and there location to the Pass. I would recommend looking at South Seas. It is very nice. Great beach, good food, eat at Lazy Flamingo and rent a boat to go to North Captiva Island. Beautiful

Blind Pass condos are on the far end of Sanibel, close to Captiva. It is along the shore, and there is access to the beach within walking distance, but it is not overlooking the beach and the Gulf. The beach there is called Bowman Beach and the best on Sanibel ! We have never stayed at Blind Pass condos, so can't help you there. Sanibel is a very special place and we love it, but it is rather quiet and laid-back.Sanibel has lots of restaurants and shops, great long bike paths, wildlife sanctuaries, and lots of other stuff, but nothing "flashy".

Hi Pat,
Last year we had reservations at Blind Pass, but cancelled in favor of other condos closer to town and bike paths. As I remember, Blind Pass was isolated. Are you taking children? Our vacation last year at Sanibel was one of our best....enjoy!

My family loved staying at Blind Pass condos! While looking at maps of the island and the location of other condos I did notice that it's in an isolated (quiet!) area. We were after that for a very relaxing vacation. We were really thrilled with the rates at Blind Pass.
We had a wonderful 2 bedroom condo and it had everything that we could possibly ever want. I mean, beach and pool toys, chairs, pails, board games and puzzles for the one day it rained, a nice selection of videos, beach towels.
The walk to the beach is along a path past the tennis courts, through a fence, over a bridge (alligators can be seen in the water below...small ones, but they are there), and down a beach path. The walk never got annoying to us.
What worked out good for us was to eat breakfast and lunch in the condo and venture out each evening to a restaurant for dinner and maybe some shopping. Our condo unit had menus from most of the local restaurants that we could look through to help us decide where to go. Among our favorites were Matzaluna's, The Hungry Heron, and the Bubble Room. If you eat at the Hungry Heron you will no doubt walk away with enough leftovers to feed you for lunch the next day.
The shell museum there is great and you should go there early in your trip. We waited until our last full day and were surprised at how much we learned about shells and the critters that occupy them. We could have used that knowledge early on in the game. If you go, the slide presentation they give is worth the price of admission.
If you're interested I can try to locate our photos and/or the number of the unit we occupied. It was quite nice.
