Legion Lake? It's been years since we stayed there but we loved it! Not as big as Sylvan Lake Lodge (which would also be a great choice)but charming cabins and a more casual lodge. I'm not sure if they have evening activities but we usually drove into Custer State park to watch wildlife.
I agree with jette, look at the South Dakota Custer State Park website and pick one of the lodges there. Great wildlife viewing and lots of kid friendly activities. Easy drive to the other area sights as well.
