I would definitely pick the Marriott because it is newer and cleaner! They are very close to each other and the Summitt. The Summitt has good restaurants and GREAT shopping.
Hi. The Sheraton is located across from the Birmingham/Jefferson Civic Center in downtown Birmingham. The Marriott is off of Hwy. 280. If you want to be close to chain type restaurants and shopping then the Marriott is your hotel. Be aware that the traffic here is usually bad 24/7. The Marriott is newer and nicer, in my opinion. Both are close to Interstate interchanges. Both also come up on Priceline. See comments on biddingfortravel.com. The Marriott seems to come up more often and a little cheaper. The Marriott also has better
service, again, my opinion.
Sorry, there used to be a Sheraton on 280 also, but it is now a Hilton. I guess the only Sheraton is near the civic center. I would still agree that the Mariott hands down for shopping and restaurants. It is also a safer area of town.
