I have been looking for bike tours in wine country for our October visit but have only come across those based in Portland who charge you for their time their and back ( we are already going to be in Newberg). Are there any companies that provide wine tours by bike in the area and if not, can anyone recommend any other tours ( we don't want to have to drive!)
Thank you so much

We just came back from a winetasting trip to Oregon and beyond and, this is just my opinion, you won't be able to see much on a bike tour. The wineries are really scattered all over the countryside, except those that have a facility in a small town - but if you are only going to visit the wine shops in towns, you're missing most of the adventure of winetasting.
I'm a DIYer and very much in favor of driving by ourselves. Many of the wineries offer tours of their own facilities and those may be much more meaningful and fun than being bussed around by a tour bus from winery to winery.
I'm certain others will have differing opinions, as this is a matter simply of one's own individual taste and preferences.
Enjoy your trip, whichever way you decide to go!
I live in Newberg and am an avid cyclist. You may want to join www.meetup.com. There are several cycling groups and I'm sure you can find someone willing to take you on a ride to some wineries, myself included. The groups are: Northwest Butts on Bikes (BoB), Out Spoke'n, NumBumz, and Whino's. One of the groups may even have a wine ride planned. I could even plan one for you. If you are interested, let me know how many miles you would be willing to ride (as the wineries can be spread out), your pace, do you like hills, dates, etc., etc. One thing to consider, if you are not part of a tour, how will you get your wine back to where you are staying? I'm not aware of any local tour companies.
I just saw some of your other posts that you are flying in for a conference. Does that mean you will need to rent bikes? There is only one bike shop in town and I don't believe they rent bikes so a tour may be your only option.
Thank you so much for the info. Yes, my husband is going to be attending a conference next week and the bike idea didn't work out
We have opted for the highly regarded "Nose for Wine" tour and are super excited!
Thanks again for the responses
