Bigfork Mt to Calgary,AB

As part of our vacation trip we will be driving from Bigfork to Calgary. Mapquest has routed us up US 93 west of Glacier Nat'l Park eventually connecting with, what I believe is, provincial route 2 in Canada. I had thought about instead taking US route 89 east of Glacier Nat'l Park to connect with provincial route 2. Which is the more scenic? As far as driving, is one significantly better than the other?

Thanks.

Sorry, I didn't think to mention the dates of travel. We will try to schedule the trip sometime between August 15 and Sept 15, 2008.

Thanks,
jim

Hiway 93 would be quicker. To reach hiway 89 you will need to take hiway 2 around the south side of Glacier Park or the Sun road through Glacier Park. Depending on how late in the year you travel, Sun road coulde be closed from labor day on for consruction purposes. Before labor day. waits of up to a half hour are expected on the Sun road during the day due to the 9 year plan of rehab on the road. After 11 pm till 7 am waits are as long as 4 hours. The Sun road though of course would be the most scenic but most time consuming. Highway 2 around the south end of the park can also be slow going with RV traffic etc.
Highway 93 would be less scenic though faster crossing the border at Eureka, Mt. and cutting east in Canada just south of Fernie B.C. on hiway 3 to connect to hiway 2. Or you could take 93 all the way to Banff and then head east to Calgary. Banff is also a very scenic area.
Have I confused you enough? A quick answer would be to take 93 to 3 to 2 to Calgary.
Either way, have a good trip!!
