On the Big Island all I can think of is renting a bunch of condos in Waikoloa. There are many places to choose from, some on the golf course, most if not all have a pool and grill area and are close to the beach at "A" Bay. Check out VRBO, Expedia or Travelocity to get ideas of what is available and go from there.
Not sure you are going to find green chiles to roast??
Get ahold of a travel agent to get a convention rate.
I recommend the Big Island as it's just so large and unique. Oahu is more congested but there seems to be a lot of activity and nightlife.
My family loved the Hali'i Kai condos in Waikoloa Beach Resort. They have a great pool areal and also some units have grills and there are also grills next to the pool. We booked through VRBO.com. The advantage in using them is that is you get great rates direct from owners, but when you book multiple condos there can be a lot of paperwork for each unit. The smallest is a 2 bedroom unit that sleeps about 6, and they also have 3 bedroom units as well that probably sleep up to 10-12. For a reunion that big, you can probably benefit from renting condos all around the Waikoloa Beach resort, as there are many different condos there at different price points. There are also private house rentals on vrbo.com or homeaway.com as well, probably around the Mauna Lani, Mauna Kea condo area. They look pretty pricey but can sleep many people and usually come with a private pool and great views.
