Big Island HI; tight schedule

Jump to last reply

We will be on Big Island March 2nd thru March 9th. We will have 36 hours to leave Kona hotel (9 a.m.) on the 8th, get to east coast and back by 9 p.m. the following day to catch flight back to U.S.

Here's my question: We (me, hubby, and 10 year old son) would very much like to do a tour into the Waipio Valley as well as see Volcano "sights." Is this feasible in the amount of time we have in the area? Where should we set up base camp for the one night if it is feasible-Hilo I presume? If we have to skip one we'll skip the Valley but hate to do so......

Thanks in advance for advice.
