BEWARE OF US AIRWAYS-THEY SUCK- BEWARE BEFORE BUYING TICKETS 2

Oh I forgot to add, I noticed that a women with a cat was boarding the plane. I am highly allergic to cats. I went to the desk and requested to be seated far away from the cat. Guess where they sat me?? Right behind the owner and the cat! Not to mention the fact that we sat on the plane 90 minutes before take off and the flight was 3 hours long, I had an asthma attack, migrane headache and couldn't stop my eyes and nose from running like a faucet. They made my trip to NYC miserable and I will never fly with them again!

that was an awful experience for you Danielle. Did you ask a flight attendant to see if another passenger would swap seats with you? One time my friends and I asked other people to swap seats so we could sit together and it worked. I bet there was someone in the back row who would have gladly swapped with you. Did someone at the desk suggest that a flight attendant could help you? I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I like US Airways because 1) they have honored price decreases by issuing credits and 2)have a good family medical emergency plan which enabled us to fly our son home ASAP at a reasonable fare when his grandmother was very ill.

Sorry you had a bad experience on USAirways. I've been flying them for years and found them to be compassionate and helpful. You should always get a seat assignment when you reserve -- especially if you are travelling with a family group. I use biztravel.com and pick out my seat(s) at the time of purchase. They've always been honored. If you reserve through the airline you have to ask right then, or call them back at least a month before the flight leaves. If you wait until check-in you will get stuck with left-overs (which usually means center seats). This is true with ANY carrier. We noticed how often this happens at Christmas -- we'd reserved our seats, 3 in a row. Other families were split up all over the plane. Plus, if you are late to the gate, the overheads are likely to be filled and you will have to check your carryon, whether its legal size or not. I've been a loyal customer since they honored an previously purchased "nonrefundable" ticket when my father was on his deathbed and I needed to get from DC to Houston fast about a month before my scheduled trip.

Thanks for your response, and to answer your question, no I did not ask to be reassigned because after the incident with the carry-on the flight attendents had a very poor attitude and didn't care to start a ruckus because of it. Yes I should have, and it would have saved me a horrible flight. And the other airlines I have flown on have made room for my carry-ons by helping me find room, instead of telling me immediately that I have to store it. They did nothing. Other airlines have made sure that people have the correct number of carry-ons as to not leave the last treated as step children.

Am I crazy or is that word, "Sucks", not one that is normally used in polite company? Not being critical, just curious and was a bit surprised to see it as part of this title. Do truly want to understand which of us is out in left field?

Yeah, I'd have to agree with the last respondant - I think we all would get the general idea without using such provocative and nasty rhetoric (although I guess it's pretty tame compared to some of the postings I've seen in these forums re: political ideology!).

Oh please, give me a break mkh and xxx. She had an awful experience and wanted to share with the rest of us. So she said 'sucks'. In her mind they did suck. She probably thought that they fucking sucked, but she didn't say it. She probably thinks that USAir is a fucking terrible company with bitch flight attendants and peice-of-shit baggage handlers who ruined her luggage. Leave the fucking lady alone.

Dear Please,

You know, I asked that politely. I wasn't slamming Danielle. I truly wanted to know. It's become so common these days, that I thought maybe I was giving it the wrong connotation! It was an honest question looking for an honest answer.

I'm sure you typed gleefully, thinking your response would shock and offend me. It doesn't any more than Danielle's title did. It speaks volumes about you however. Good luck. I hope you go far in life; you've got a long arduous road to travel!

To the last post (xxx) - amen and well said! You most certainly did ask your question in nothing other than a civil and humble manner. Thanks for being a voice of reason!

As a former English teacher (in one of my previous lives) I used to be rather shocked by the word "sucks" for its sexual connotation. However, it seems to have become a very common term often heard in event polite, but casual company. My favorite form of the word is the adjective "sucky", as in "it was really a sucky experience". I guess the term no longer holds a sexual connotation. But to "please", I am so impressed by your mastering of the English language. You must be a really charming person in real life!

as my brother would say, "white trash alert." Yes, it is very rude to use such words as "sucks" in a professional setting.

To all who have responded. Sorry for my term, "suck" as the overexposure of highschool age children from all walks of life have influenced my speech. The airline however, from my experience, still "sucks". Translation---I had a horrible experience and wanted to share so you, who have all mocked me for my term, would avoid the same experience.

Sandy,
Why do you assume I am "white trash" and why do you assume I am "white"? Prehaps because you are a white bigot who thinks that African American people do not travel and are not smart enough to come to Fodor's to express an horrible experience that happened? Maybe you have more of a problem with your narrow-minded bigotry, then I have with using the word "suck".

I have used US Air for my last 3 vacations.Everytime something went wrong.Examples to much fuel had to wait for a fuel truck to off load some;flat tire waited for it to be fixed ;bad instruments in cockpit, waited for a part to be taken from another jet and placed into ours. All of this was done while we were stuck on board!
The only reason I use them is because they offer the best price and direct flights to were I want to go. One of these times I hope to get there on time.

And all three times they had to delay your flight to fix these problems? Gee,too bad they just didn't say to heck with it and take off on time.

Danielle, you make me WANT to fly US Airways even more than I do, which is weekly. You said in one of your TWO posts that you are a semi-frequent flyer yet you didn't have the sense to pre-arrange seating!?! C'mon. That's not US Airways' fault.
