Beverly Hills/Ivy for lunch?
HI Everyone,
OK my trip is almost here. Anyone have any tips of must sees in BH? I have already done the Chineses Theatre and took a "STAR" tour in the past.
Can anyone tell me if they have eaten at the Ivy? I assume I need reservations. How much does it average per person? Will they seat us in the back by the kitchen since we are nobodys LOL
We are going to be there just 3 days so any pointers will be great.

HI..
I have eaten at the Ivy and we did have reservations and it wasn't that expensive..about $25pp for lunch w/tip
The food was pretty good and I did not want to sit outside with all the paparazzis hovering. I like sitting inside the quaint cottage. We are somebody and we wanted to eat by the kitchen.
Also, cruise up PCH to Malibu and enjoy the view and there are some great spots to dine along the way.

Good call on Malibu. Have you done the Getty Museum? If not, you would be silly to leave that out.
Ivy is a great place, and lunch prices are not bad. Just follow one rule: Don't skimp. Part of the fun of going to the Ivy is seeing what kind of wonderful creation the chef will whip up. Don't get hung up on costs... the extra $5 or $10 will give you a better experience.

I agree that the Getty is a must, lunch up there is terrific even if you opt for the garden cafe instead of the pricier Restaurant.
Parking reservations are no longer required for the Getty, and if you don't have a car, citybus #561 out of Westwood/UCLA or Sherman Oaks will get you there.

Thanks eveyone!
Well I called and got the reservations for the Ivy for lunch. I'm not worried about the price. That isn't an issue but we are all vegan so I would be more concerned if they do vegan dishes. I'm sure there will be something we can eat.
It is a no go on Getty's. They are sold out until May and the other on in LA is only open on Mondays.
I think we will do the Malibu drive. Are there any places we should check out there?
Thanks again for all your help.

Hi Jenny..
2 restaurants come to mind that are fun and good food right in Malibu..
neptunesnet.com and
dukesmalibu.com
Always have a good time there!
I just found this restaurant for the true vegan..maliburaw.com
The Ivy has to have some Vegan dishes, it's LA..if not on the menu ask your server..

Thanks Tahiti!
I think Duke's will have to be it. I lived in Hawaii for 10 yrs when I was in college and make a trip back every year just for the beaches and the food! I am sure I can find something there I like and I can just have them hold the shrimp
Thanks for that link. You have been awesome.

Been there, done that. I took my daughter to the Ivy for her 18th bday because she wanted to see somebody. We sat next to Dr. Phil's wife, Robyn and saw Chris Rock. The food is good, but very expensive. It was $75 for lunch for crab cakes, chopped salad and a glass of wine. If you just want to tool around and looky-loo, I would eat at the Newsroom right across the street from the Ivy, they have great food, organic and vegan. You can see the Ivy and the paparazzi swarm if someone is around. We saw Paris & Nicki Hilton in Kitson and J.Lo in Lisa Kline. If you go to Malibu stop and eat at Moonshadows on the outdoor patio. The food is good, not great, but the view is wonderful! Have fun.
