I've posted several posts about BF . . . the short version . . . I booked two tickets to San Jose, Costa Rica and they sent me tickets to San Jose, CA. They admitted their mistake, said mail the ticket back, and they would send correct ones . . . never happened. They stopped taking my phone calls and never answered my letters (certified, return receipt).
I ended up having to protest the charges with Visa, who protected me. Thank goodness I had charged the tickets!
Do you want to do business with a company like this?

I've been a Best Fares members several times over the last ten years. I have mixed feelings but would not recommend it. It is my opinion the Internet took them by surprise since (I believe) they were one of the original companies to give tips on travel bargins.
The last time I checked, their Quickfares feature was still not working. Likewise, they don't offer an "send me email when the rate goes down" feature while Travelocity and Expedia have been doing it for years.
Finally, their magazine is little more than press releases for the resorts. Seldom did I find any useful "insider" tips or ways to save money.

I joined just ahead of a trip to Paris. Sure enough, after sifting through a zillion offers, I found one that actually included our dates. After being on hold for more than 20 minutes, four times, I stuck it out until I finally got a person on the phone (about 45 minutes). This dunce (a term I almost never use) tells me we will have a connection in St. Louis (from Boston to Paris)? When I finally convince her not, by the time she got finished adding up fees and taxes, the fare (for flights with too short a connection going over and too long a connection coming back, at the most inconvenient times imaginable) was HIGHER than direct flights, which I booked the following day with a travel agent. NONE of those fares are exclusive to Best Fares. They are available to everyone. You just have to shop around. I would hesitate to ever book airline tickets with an outfit with which you can not get a person on the phone within a reasonable amount time, one who knows what they're doing. The good news is, my membership fee was promptly refunded with no argument.

Have been a member for 4 years. have saved much more than the membership every year. Have never experienced any trouble getting thru or booking the dates I wanted.
I can see how the person flying from Boston might have had a problem as the transatlantic trips i took did go thru St. Louis.
There website is easy to use (used to be rather difficult a couple of years ago).
even if you don't join, I would check the site to get an idea of what fares are out there. Then if you want you can check the other sites, your travel aget or whatever.
