Best/Cheapest way to get to Copper Mtn, CO?
Hi all,
I've never ski'd before, and will be going for the first time to Copper Mountain, CO with a college group from Dec 16-22 (super excited!). I'm flying in separately from the group, so I'll also need a way to get from the Denver Airport (DIA) to the Copper Mountain resort.
According to the website, they have direct shuttle, which is $69 one way, which is kind of expensive... I also noticed there is a free public bus (Summit Stage bus for Summit County, CO). Has anyone had experience with either/both of these options? Anyone know how long it takes for the public bus to get to Copper Mtn?
Thank you!
Renee P.

The Summit Stage only runs within Summit County, not to the Denver airport.
$69 seems cheap for a 100+ mile trip.
The shuttle companies I've seen most often are Colorado Mountain Express and Summit express.

Check the Copper Mt web site; it has all the information you need about lift tickets, ski rentals, etc. Ask about private lessons if you are a beginner. We hooked up with a retired navy officer who had my husband on his own in one day. (Me: Altitude sickness, in the condo)

The only reasonable way if you are on your own is the shuttle. It is a solid two hour trip in good weather. I haven't check recently but there is a Greyhound bus that goes in that direction. But the hassle of getting from the airport to the bus station in downtown Denver to Cooper is not worth even if it was only ten bucks. This is a case where that is the price you have to pay.
The S Cty Stage is a free nearly free bus to haul you between the major ski sites in Summitt County - Breckenridge, Keystone, and Copper. When I say nearly free there is a very small memory that they started charging a dollar a ride last year. But I don't know that for sure. The service is hourly or a little bit better during the day and less so in the evening. Everything hubs through Frisco.

You will have a great time--and getting there is NOT half the fun. You may really need to acquaint yourself with the cost of skiing if you are unfamiliar--or if you haven't been told up front by the arrangers of this trip.

This is odd. Logged on and did not see either your response (4.42pm) or my early comment. Thought maybe I had forgotten to hit the post button - that has happened a number of times. So I posted the latest comment and now everything is there.

Perhaps you don't realize how far that is from Denver Airport.
Last year I stayed in Breckenridge and use Summit Shuttle to/from the airport and they were excellent. When there, I did go to Copper one day using the local ski shuttle bus service. They only charge $65 one-way.

Personally, I would not trust an Uber driver to transport me to the mountains if conditions are problematic. Go with one of the mountain shuttles. They are experienced in driving in the mountains.
