Best Time for ESB

Hello. I am travelling to NYC in early April and was wondering what time would be best to visit the ESB so that it is the least crowded on the observation deck. I am purchasing the express tickets, so I'm not concerned about lines but am planning a special evening and want some privacy and not a lot of crowds up top.

I prefer the evening around 7pm due to the sunset, but will take suggestions. I know the Top of the Rock is preferred, but I need the ESB for sentimental reasons and the evening for the same reasons.

Thanks!

Hi

Have you considered Top of The Rock instead? Maybe you will it to be less crowded than ESB. I went to Top of the Rock in December and I have posted more details in my trip report with pictures http://gardkarlsen.com/NYC_travelogue_2007.htm

I probably won't go until around 11pm. Should be a lot less crowded, right?

I went around 11PM and there were no lines but the observation deck was crowded.

Between 5:30 and 7:30PM is also a good time.

Based on how long the lines are - and that they're extended their hours to allow more people to visit - I don;t think you'll find it anywhere near empty at any time.

I'm planning on going on a Tuesday night in early April. I don't suppose that makes a difference? Rain? Cold?

Well - April will be better than midsummer. And if it's rainy/cold there will be fewer people.

If you're asking if it will BE rainy and cold (you'll know the former about 3 days in advance - and yes, April night are often chilly - but not cold - as in the 20's).
