We seek an authentic blue club or two in Mississippi this Fall.--Any suggestions? We got on the internet and found a club called the 930 Blues Cafe in Jackson...Anyone been there and done that? We prefer to get a "down-home" expereince. If you also have dining or accommodations recommendations, please pass them on! THANKS!

Clarksdale Ms has the Delta Blues Museum, and several blues clubs. For a real "blues experience" book a room at the ShackUp Inn (www.shackupinn.com) They are a good source also for what's going on locally. Excellent "upscale" dining at Madidi in Clarksdale (owned by Morgan Freeman) as well as Ground Zero Blues club. CatHead sends out a newsletter concerning who's playing the blues where in Mississippi. I think there's a link to the CatHead website at Shackupinn.com. Hope this helps.
Not exactly on your Fall agenda but the August issue of Men's Journal covers an interesting article about a blues singer-songwriter doing a road trip from DC to Nashville. They map out the route with specific locations of local music joints. Worth a look.
