Best route thru Greenwich Village/SoHo/Chinatown & Little Italy

I would appreciate suggestions of what is the best "route" to take for a walk through the Greenwich Village/SoHo/Chinatown and Little Italy.

Is there a main street that runs through all four areas? I'd like to sample each area briefly. Is it possible in a few hours?

Thanks

Will, buy a guidebook and a good map. Read and figure out what you like best and go from there. They are all in the same general area so it should a nice day. Either that or contact Big Apple Greeters.

Will,
X is right. You'll need a guide book. The Village/Soho/Chinatown and Little Italy are contiguous but cover several square miles. There is no one main street in the Village. The closest you'll come to a "main street" in the other neighborhoods are West Broadway in Soho, Mott Street in Chinatown and Mulberry Street in Little Italy. You will have to devote much more than a few hours if you want to see all four neighborhoods. Have fun.

It may help people if you suggest what exactly you are looking to experience in these areas. It may help you move quickly if you can decide that you are interested in a snacking/nibbling tour, shopping, architecture, unusual neighborhood characteristics, etc.

You can walk anywhere, any time, for as long as you want, down any street, but if you like to do something, why not do it while you are at it?

Spring Street will take you through Soho into Little Italy then you can cross Canal and be in Chinatown.
The streets change names but if you just keep going straight on Spring, you will end up at Chinatown.

You may want to pick up Bleecker Street at 8th Avenue and Hudson Street (Greenwich Village). Follow it east until you hit Broadway, then walk south (SoHo). South on Broadway until you hit Grand Street and head east (Little Italy) until you hit Bowery and then south on Bowery until you hit Chatham Square (Chinatown).

This route will take you all day to walk because you will want to check out all the side streets you encounter.
