Best route from Nashville to Panama City Beach Florida

It seems there is no direct route from the north. I would love to hear suggestions on the best rout there.

Mostly on I-65 through Birmingham.
Do you want to go 475 miles in 8 hours or the longer route through Atlanta in 9 hours?

Is this a trick question? PCB is pretty much directly south of Nashville. Get on 65 and drive for 285 miles. Then you can take 331 until you get to 98 and make a left turn. If you've not driven through the communities on 30a, do that. It's the prettiest part of Florida - much prettier than PCB.

tomfuller, I want the shortest route with the least traffic.

Starrs, no, it is not a trick question. I know to take 65 to Montgomery, but from there it gets a little less clear. It looks like 331 is a very windy road, andthere are many other options at that point. I was just looking for the quickest route without going through a million stop lights and tons of traffic.

"It looks like 331 is a very windy road"

Once you get off interstates, roads become less straight - unless you are out west. Where are you from, where secondary roads are not "windy"? Roads connect communities and follow the contours of the land. Nashville to PCB is a straight shot, with three turns = not bad for almost 400+ miles.

Starrs, have you driven this route? I do know secondary roads are not straight, but as in any area of the country, some are easier to drive than others. All I was asking is for advice on the best route. I google mapped the trip and it used the same route, but that does not mean it is always the BEST route. Thanks.

louky, I've not driven from Nashville to PCB. But one would be hard pressed to find a route that's not a straighter shot - it's due south of Nashville.

I HAVE driven virtually every road south of I-10 in the Panhandle and can't think of a road to caution you against. I don't see how 331 is considered "windy" either, so perhaps you should just ignore my routing and find another one.
