Northern Virginia?
Central Virginia (Richmond-Williamsburg)?
"west" Virginia (Charlottesville to Roanoke)?
"East" Virginia (Norfolk-Hampton-Virginia Beach)?
I would say that you can buy a kebab at any South Asian or Lebanese restaurant, but I would not say that "kebab" is the first thing I think of when I think of eating out in Virginia, and I think of eating out in Virginia a lot.

I thin kit's fairly safe that the best restaurant i VA doesn; serve kebabs.
I really think you need to define what you are looking for.
Just kebabs - then you're looking for casuale and inexpensive?
Or do you want really elegant food?
Cuisines you like and dislike?
Budget?
Atmosphere?

Where in VA -it is a big state? What sort of budget? etc.
These one sentence posts and !!!'s don't give us much to work with.

No one said that kebab isn't good food - just that it is casual and inexpensive.
It was not clear hat you meant by your first post - best food in VA would usually be expensive and elegant in a noted restaurant with a well-known chef.

Hi, crazycookies. That does help and I should be able to assist you with food in Hampton Roads but it will help me if you tell me what cities you will be visiting. Williamsburg, Newport News/Hampton, Norfolk, VA Beach? It is a pretty big area. If I don't get right back to you, be patient. I'll be away from the board for a few days.

There is a doner kebab shop on the west end of Carytown in Richmond. It is just like a doner kebab shop in London or Paris, though the owners are Syrians rather than Turks. A yummy lamb schwarma sandwich will cost you about $6.
Many people would call Acacia, just past the other end of Carytown the best restaurant in Richmond, the the service is often amateur. With wine, you can drop $100 per person.
Now, you have an answer. Stop being rude and grow up or go away.

I have been to that kabab place yet...they are supposed to have great falafel. It's near the salon I go to and plan to have lunch there after my next manicure (if not before).
Acacia is definitely a place where the back of the house saves the front of the house. It's good but I wouldn't say the best in Richmond.
And yes, there is The Inn at Little Washington and then there is every place else

I didn't like the felafel at all, Janet, but I am used to Israeli style felafel. Too much tahini made it taste bitter to me. My standard (this sounds too snobby for words) is L'As du Felafel in Paris. But the lamb was delicious, and the pita are baked fresh for each order.
I went last night to the food truck at the Arco Iris Latin Market on Staples Mill and had a burrito mixto that was absolutely nothing like a California burrito or the burrito that has spread east from there. Much more like an enchilada. A little salty for me.
I also had a torta al pastor (I was sharing with my wife). This was not a pie but a sandwich on a soft roll with beef grilled al pastor, a slice of ham, a sort of crema mayonnaise, sliced avocado, lettuce and I think tomato. It was delicious.
You get a ticket and pay inside the grocery store. Everything was cooked from scratch, and it was all cheap.

Robioous Road, eh? Have to think about that.
My wife and I went to Kuba Kuba last night. She had black bean soup and empanadillas, I had the shrimp and mussel soup and a Cuban sandwich. Since her empanadadillas were as big as empanadas anywhere else abd my sandwich was vast, we have enough left over for lunch or dinner today. My soup in particular was delicious. The food is not authentically Cuban, though based on it, but I like going there, and with Black Sheep, it is one of the places I like to take visitors. The English in particular seem to love it.
