Best rest area on Route 81 Sourht through Virginia

Hello we are driving from New Jersey to Atlanta starting evening. We will need few hours break and we figured we would probably in Virginia on 81 south in the night time. We will start at around 7:00pm from North jersey and plan to halt at around 12:00 - 1:00am. Can someone suggest good rest area where we can halt for around 3 - 4hours before we continue our journey to Atlanta.

Thanks

I'm thinking about 5-6 hours of driving will put you around Staunton/Lexington area. There's a nice rest area right between Weyers Cave and Verona exits (exits 235 and 227). There's also a good size truck stop off exit 205 (Raphine) that you could use. Further south the next nice rest stop is between Fairfield and Route 11 Lexington exits (exits 200 and 195). If you want to get a little further, there's another just north of Roanoke between exits 156 and 162. All of these would be fine for a quick stop for a nap. I'm assuming you weren't looking for an actual hotel.

You also might google for "truck stops". You can get a snack (maybe not coffee!!) and there is room to park.
But that is a pretty unpopulated part of 81 right along the highway, IIRC. The services are often a couple of miles up the road, IME.

I agree with Virginia1990; that Raphine-Steele's Tavern exit is probably as good as any and is about 380 miles from "North Jersey."
