Hi,

I have just decided to travel with my family to Kauai in July. We normally go to Hawaii in Feb. and pay about 400-500 per person for airfare.
The cheapest fare I could find was a whopping $800+ to Kauai from Sacramento or San Francisco. This seems way high. Is this what airfare normally runs in the summer months? Does anyone have a good suggestion for lower rates anywhere?
I have tried all of the major airlines plus Expedia, Orbitz and Pleasant Holidays.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try Suntrips. They fly from Oakland direct to Kauai. Try using Sidestep. It is a travel search engine that usually quotes prices a few dollars less than Orbitz.

Using Sidestep,I got rate quotes starting at $560.00 on Aloha Airlines from Oakland to Lihue using July 13 and 20 as travel dates. Check it out.

Looks like some better rates have popped up, try orbitz again. Hotwire.com could be a possibility too. For neighbor islands I also check Honolulu fares then mentally add interisland fare (can total less sometimes).
Aloha has $65/segment interisland if you sign up for their FF program (AlohaPass). Good hunting.

Check Hawaiian Airlines, just got email with some good rates tho' at quick glance look better for later in summer.
