Best places to see the sunrise in Hawaii

Where are some good places in Hawaii to see the sunrise? I'm specifically interested in Oahu & the Big Island, but I'd like to hear about other islands too.

On Oahu, I'm thinking Kailua Beach.

On the Big Island - Coconut Island? Although I read in someone's trip report that it was closed for renovations.
What about along the ocean at Volcano National Park?

Kapoho in Puna on the east side of the Big Island. My husband and I have stayed in various rentals in a gated community, Kapoho Beach Lots, which is right on the ocean--so provides a great view of the sunrise. www.lagoonhouse.com is the website of the house we've rented for next Feb. Have always admired the house on our other stays and now have finally rented it.

good places in Hawaii to see the sunrise?

Um ... in the sky? Sorry. I couldn't resist

But seriously, I thought the sunrises at the Kauai Beach Resort hotel (on the eastern shore) were nothing short of magical. I didn't love the hotel (although it was "okay" -- just not a favorite) but walking on that beach early each morning, as the sun crept up over the ocean was a highlight. Practically walked into a huge tortoise one morning.

Can't wait to go back!

We hiked up Diamond Head for a sunrise view in Oahu. Really enjoyed it!

I was thinking Haleakala, Hana and Diamond Head myself. Ask us about sunsets, and I'm sure we have even more.
