Best places for kids in Door County

I'm planning a family getaway in Door County, but haven't decided what town to go to. Anyone have suggestions? I'd like to rent a house or condo somewhere in a town that has lots to do for children. If you've been to any standout towns, I'd love to hear about your experiences there.

If you are talking about Door County, Wisconsin, I would suggest Fish Creek. It is pretty much in the middle of everything. However, this time of the year isn't the best time; too late for summer sports and too early for snowmobiling. But it is really a nice place to vacation anyway.

Me and my husband visited Wisconsin last Autumn, and though we loved it there we didnt see what all the fuss about Door County was? It had really quaint, nifty little villages and and some colourful foliage but quite frankly we preferred the are around Lake Superiour and the Western edge where all the hills and valley's were. Door county was mostly flat and you couldnt see the Lake half of the time because the entire bloody shoreline is privately owned, and they plant trees to keep their trophy mansions out of view! We liked Bayfield up north the best as well as Hudson and Stockholm on the Western edge the best!

Cheers!

My mom is from Sturgeon Bay and I've visited a few times. I thought it was a wonderful area of the US. I remember taking the ferry across to Washington Island at the tip of Door Co. and that was so much fun for the kids. There's also a Sweedish or Norweigan restaurant somewhere in Door Co. called Al Johnsons and the buildings are just like the ones in Scandanavia and have grass roofs and the sheep were grazing on them and my kids still talk about that experience. Have fun.
