Best Movie/TV Studio tours in LA..adults

Warner Brothers was good ten years ago, but when we took the tour in January, 2015, we were so disappointed that I got our money back when I described the shoddy tour we had to the man in charge.
The wonderful Western back lot has been demolished, we were only taken on one set (of an unknown show), and the "museum" was a sales pitch for Henry Potter and Batman rather than a celebration of Warner Brother's great history.
It was extremely disappointing.
We've been to Paramount, Sony, and Universal too. I have good memories of Paramount, but that was many years ago. Universal is fun, but it is more like a theme park ride than a studio tour.
I'm interested to read what others have to say on this topic.

PS I believe you can get a good tour of Warner Brothers if you pass on the basic tour and go "deluxe" for about $200 per person. Paramount now also has a VIP tour in the $200 range.

Many people find that attending a taping of a favorite TV show is often as or more rewarding and educational than a studio tour.
I second the prior response about the Columbia backlot (now called Warner Ranch), especially if you're a fan of classic TV shows.

If it's the off-season you probably have time for two. Warner Brothers you could fit in between 9am and noon and Universal is about a 4 hour investment of time unless you like to go on each thrill ride more than once. It takes about 15 mins to get from one studio to the other, parking space to parking space.
You'd still have a few hours from 6pm to 10pm to visit the "Hollywood Walk of Fame" or Griffith Observatory, or if it's September maybe a show at the Hollywood Bowl.

Warner Bros is probably the easiest to do since they have frequent tours including weekends. In fact a weekend might be better since they will not be shooting your chances of seeing more sets is probably higher.

I used to work at both CBS on Fairfax and NBC studios in Burbank, and at that time, NBC was the only TV studio that even gave a tour in the LA area. Now, they moved their studios from Burbank and I don't think anyone does, so I'm pretty sure only attending a live taping will be possible to see "behind the scenes" of a television production.
It depends what shows you like, I know ABC tapes Jimmy Kimmel Live in a studio on Hollywood Blvd and it's fairly easy to get tickets a few weeks in advance.

of course you can usually get tickets to some random sitcoms at various places. This website handles some sitcoms and some other shows, like Big Bang Theory. Tickets are usually given out starting about 30 days in advance to most shows.
