Best Luau in Oahu & Things to do with kids (toodlers to teenagers)
Hi
A group (20 of us including kids) are going to be in Oahu from 6/15-6/24. We are staying in Kailua. We are looking for a good Luau to go to. Please help.
Thanks

I read great reviews about the St. Germain Luau but when we went we were dissapointed with the quality of the food. the drinks were so-so. I would not do that again. The bus ride getting there took 15 Hawaiian minutes which means (whenever you get there) but it was the most entertainment we had all night. you can only take so much hula shakin for so long then it becomes, well I don't want to ruin it for you. Just don't waste your money on St. Germains. We rented a convertable and got a map of the island and one day toured the entire east side (saw the real Gilligans Island) the next day we toured the entire west coast including Dole Pineapple maze, Northshore Pipeline where all the surfers go, known for 30 foot waves certain times of the year. We paid to go on a big cat (catamarran) off Waikiki, that was fun. its been said the whales go there from Alaska to mate or have their babies and during March you can see them. Enjoy your trip. Aloha.

I meant to say the bus ride was the most fun we had that night. the tour guy was a riot. he remembered everyone on the bus's name. it was awesome. We also had our 10 year old daughter with us. she enjoyed seeing all the different beaches and eating at cute roadside eateries where we drank coconut juice straight from the coconut (chilled). Ohana=family and Mahalo=thank you.

Polynesian Cultural Center has the best Polynesian entertainment in Hawaii.
Ha: Breath of Life is the best show in Hawaii.
Plus there are the seven villages, the canoe pageant, IMAX, canoe rides, all for the same price as a luau at a different venue.

dusty56438 is right, as always
Polynesian Cultural Center has the best Polynesian entertainment of all the islands.
it's an all day experience so come there right by the opening time to have time to visit seven villages, see the float parade, luau and the night show.
Once you get to the island, pick up a free copy of 101 Things to Do. It lists a bunch of various activities that the visitors can enjoy while on the island. This will give you very good ideas to keep your toddlers and teenagers busy.
Boys usually enjoy the Screamer ride and jetski, banana boats, inflated tubes rides etc the Hawaiian water center which is in the Hawaii Kai area of the island.

I used to be a big advocate for Paradise Cove, which is more of a competitor to Germaine's (not St. Germain). In the last few months, however, I rediscovered Polynesian Cultural Center, a luau to which I hadn't been in decades. I loved it! It was the only commercial luau at which I went up for seconds on the food because it was so good (try the potato salad). And the Ha: Breath of Life show was classy and well done, not like cheesier luau shows.
PCC is more expensive than other luaus, but you get more.

With that many people, you should call the PCC and ask for a group discount.
It's a fun place. Allow plenty of time to visit the villages and talk with the student performers. the luau show is good, but there is so much more.
