"Best " Luau in B.I. or Kauai

On our first trip to Hawaii we had a fabulous luau somewhere in Maui--I forget where. This time we will visit the B.I. and Kauai (our second trip to Kauai), and want to do one luau, in one place or the other. Any recommendations for a "best" luau in either of these islands? I am more interested in the quality of the food than in the quality of the entertainment (within limits!.

Thanks.

Liz

I'm looking for recommendations for luaus on the Big Island also. We're staying at the Hapuna next June. Any info is greatly appreciated.

the luau at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is probably the best on the island. The Hilton Waikoloa's entertainment is good but the food is better at the M.K.

Are advance reservations required at the Mauna Kea? If so, how far in advance?

I don't think you need advance reservations, but you can email them and find out www.maunakeabeachhotel.com
they only have the luaus on tuesdays though.

We enjoyed the food at Smiths Tropical Paradise luau in Kauai very much. They had a good variety and it was delicious. I know you dont care about the entertainment but that was excellent also. The grounds around the luau are breathtaking, they take you on a tram tour before the luau begins.

Thanks on the info for the Mauna Kea. I'll definately contact them before we go to get info. Luckily, we'll be there on a Tuesday. Thanks again.
