So where is the best place to eat Lobster on the coast of Maine Acadia or further north?

I would love to find a cottage, resort, Inn, B&B with a place nearby to eat Lobster for 3 days!

Beach not important, lots of rocks and crashing waves and beautiful scenery. Prefer smaller town, village.

Any ideas?

When we stayed in Southwest Harbor we ate at either Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound www.trentonbridgelobster.com or at Beal's Lobster Pound http://www.bealslobster.com 5 of our 6 of our nights there. There was one night that we dined at a restaurant (can't recall the name) and had the lobster but it was no where near as good as what we had and both of these Lobster Pounds. We stayed at Kingsleigh Inn www.kingsleighinn.com/. That was wonderful and we would love to get back there again and do nothing but hang out and eat lobster.

Places like Trenton Lobster that steam the lobsters over wood are the absolute best!

I agree that Trenton Bridge is great. On MDI, Abel's is a funny mix of upscale (old money folks from Northeast Harbor in dapper sports jackets) and the lobster pound ambiance. Its pricey but a fun experience. We've been there with kids, while camping, and really enjoyed it. For less money and a completely different ambience, but still great food, try Mainley Delights down in Bass Harbor.

In Bar Harbor-- we ate at Trentons and loved it.
The best lobster I've ever had in my life was in Kennebunkport at Nunan's (we were there before Bar Harbor)

Trenton Bridge, as the name implies, is in the Town of Trenton, before you go over the causeway to Mount Desert Island. Bar Harbor is one of several towns on the island. Just to clarify. . .

if you want to see lots of huge rocks to hike/climb around on and crashing waves you absolutely have to spend a day or 2 at the schoodic point section of acadia.

lobster is everywhere and is pretty much all good - you don't have to find special spots. in fact some of the best is at the dumpy looking lobster pounds scattered along the coast. there is pound on the wharf in bar harbor.

We've only been to Maine in the fall. Are we going to have mosquitos in mid-late August?

Anyone been anywhere north of Acadia? Jonesport? Eastport?

Lobster... mmmmm. Early this August, we're renting our favorite cottage on the coast, in mid-coast Maine, for our anniversary week, early in August.

Farther north of there, however, we have fond memories of a fabulous little place on Route 1, in Pembroke, Maine -- quite far up. (Check your maps.) I think it was called simply the Pembroke Diner. Heading north, it's on the left -- a little white, wooden diner that is nicer than it looks. We've been there a couple of times en route north to New Brunswick, Canada. I assume they are still there.

Anyway, they served a lobster stew that was to die for! You got a bowl of lobster meat, cream, and butter -- nothing else in there. (It was mostly lobster, really, with chunks sticking out of the top of the bowl!)

We ate at Thurstons Lobster Pound in Bernard near Bass Harbor 2 nights, and Seafood Ketch 2 nights. Ate Lobster for lunch and dinner 4 days!
